Commitment to Clean Energy

In 2023, Wheaton made significant progress by adopting 100% hydropower-certified electricity across its facilities, eliminating greenhouse gas emissions under Scope 2 of its carbon inventory.

The company has also implemented innovative technologies, such as electric “boosting” powered by electrodes in furnaces. This approach enhances energy efficiency, improves glass production quality, and reduces atmospheric emissions.

Since 2018, Wheaton has transitioned from gas-powered forklifts to electric models, further reducing environmental and noise pollution while improving workplace quality and sustainability.

Green Light Project

Through the Green Light Project, photovoltaic panels have been installed on streetlight poles for public lighting. The stored solar energy powers the lights during the night. In 2023, 54 new panels were installed in the parking area, with the capacity to generate approximately 38,000 KWh annually. This energy could power about 20 homes for an entire year.
